International Symposium HOTT
Bulgarian Center for Bioethics co-organized the International Symposium HOTT against the trafficking in human beings for the purpose of organ removal at the Europol Headquarters in November 2014 in the Hague. At BCB's invitation Mariana Simeonova, Director of the Bulgarian Transplantation Agency attended the Symposium.
BCB Student Bioethics Essay Contest
Bulgarian Center for Bioethics organized a Student Bioethics Essay Contest. The winners are:
- First place: Svetlana Dimitrova (MU Pleven) for the essay "Surrogate Motherhood – Womb for Hire”.
- Second place: Margarita Gabrovska (SU “St. Kliment Ohridski”) for the essay ”Moral and Medical Issues of Liver Transplantation to Patients with Alcohol Dependency”.
- Third place: Nadia Stoilova (PU “Paisii Hilendarski”) for the essay ”What Is the Price of a Baby? For and Against Surrogate Motherhood In Bulgaria”.
International Round Table Discussion “Organ Donation in Europe: Challenges, Opportunities and Exchange of Good Practices”

The Round Table Discussion was organized by the Bulgarian Center for Bioethics with participation of experts from the EU member countries including members of the European forum ELPAT (Ethical, Legal and Psychosocial Aspect of Transplantation) - Chris Rudge FRCS, National Clinical Director for Transplantation in the Department of Health in London, UK, Professor Rutger Ploeg, President of the European Society for Organ Transplantation (ESOT), Dr.Bernadette B.J.J.M. Haase-Kromwijk, Executive Director of the Dutch Transplant Foundation, Professor Willem Weimar, Chair of ELPAT, Michael A. Bos, Chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Eurotransplant International Foundation, Vice-chair of the Ethics Committee of the Transplantation Society (TTS) and Bulgarian experts from Aleksandrovska Hospital, Lozenets Hospital, Association of Patients with Kidney Diseases, Medical University in Pleven, School of Divinity, Sofia University and representatives of the media. Advance Directives for Health Care (AD)

National Bioethics Meeting
